Sr. Server Engineer: Online/Mobile
Blue Fang: Online / Mobile is a rapid development division of Blue Fang Games, makers of Zoo Tycoon, Lion Pride, and World of Zoo. BFGs products have sold well over 8 million units worldwide and this division is focused on expanding our success into iPhone, online and the social gaming markets.
BFG is looking for a Sr. Server Engineer with experience in online game development and social networking. This engineer is responsible for the rapid development of highly efficient server-side code supporting massively multiplayer online, mobile, and social networking games in an exciting, high paced environment. This person should be a self-starter and comfortable within an agile requirements definition environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Technical design and development of highly efficient and scalable game server as well as assisting in the development of already designed components
• Collaborate with client development teams using AS3, as well as external service providers, on the implementation of a complete gameplay and management solution
• Actively participate in the game development process and be comfortable in a fast paced game development team environment. Work directly with talented designers, artists, and production to ensure the smooth development of quality products.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Solid J2SE multithreaded application design and development
• AS3 and client Javascript experience
• Server design and development experience – Backend game development experience on multiple titles
• A high-level understanding of game development, client side network development, and server side development. Be able to take us through pre-pro to a live online game. Know the entire process, risk areas, and decisions needed for success.
• Solid time estimation and reporting skills and the ability to reassess estimates based on functionality changes.
• Team player with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Able to work effectively with a dynamic team under deadline pressures and live environment
