Operations Lead
Blue Fang Games is an independent game developer focused on applying proven game design and development principles to the new social, online and mobile game platforms. Our first Facebook game, Zoo Kingdom, is one of the fastest growing games on Facebook with over 1.5 million monthly active users and we’re just getting started! Our growing team is comprised of a singular combination of game industry veterans and online/social gaming talent and is focused on delivering original, dynamic experiences that stand out from all the “me-too” games out there.
BFG is looking for an Operations Lead with experience in online, web, and social networking games. This role is responsible for all operational components of an online game. Everything from build scripts, to deployment,to hardware, to monitoring & notifications.
Responsibilities
• Monitor & maintain production servers running an online game
• Respond to urgent server issues at any time
• Maintain all development servers used by other departments
• Develop process for building & deployment of new game features
• Collaborate with all departments to roll out new game functionality to the production servers
• Implement analytics processes to enhance visibility of production server operational status (system load, performance, capacity, etc.)
• Actively participate in the game development process, engaging the team, and resolving issues. Project/team experience is critical
• Research new technologies that can improve performance of the production servers
Qualifications
• OpenSolaris/linux experience a must
• Experience with Amazon EC2/Cloud Computing a plus
• Apache, mysql, gnu-tools, shell-script expertise
• Ant (java builds), CruiseControl (or other continuous-integration), Nagios (or other notification software) expertise
• Solid time estimation and reporting skills and the ability to reassess estimates based on functionality changes
• Team player with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Able to work effectively with a dynamic team under deadline pressures and live environment
• 5+ years combined industry experience working with online products
• Ability to document processes in a clean and understandable manner
• Source control branching experience a plus
• Java, PHP, ActionScript, Flash experience a plus
• Degree in computer science or equivalent a plus
