Art Director

The future of gaming lies in growing beyond the traditional genres that have long dominated our industry. We need to expand our audience by creating new and different interactive experiences that speak to the larger population that has to-date been neglected. Blue Fang Games is dedicated to creating games that appeal to this larger audience. We built our company on the success of our multi-million unit selling Zoo Tycoon franchise and we are in the midst of the next step in our evolution.

Blue Fang is developing a new and original video game property with THQ Inc. for Nintendo’s WiiTM and DSTM systems, as well as Windows PC. We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead our art team and play an integral role in shaping the future.

The Art Director at Blue Fang Games is responsible for the aesthetic vision of our games, working closely with the Project’s Creative Director, Technical Director and Producer to ensure all Blue Fang titles are of the highest quality, both visually and with respect to gameplay. The right candidate will be an experienced and savvy manager, a hands-on artist, have deep knowledge of game development and possess an expert knowledge of the relevant tools of the trade.

Responsibilities:
• Be a contributing member of Blue Fang’s Senior Management Team
• Envision and maintain the unique visual style of all Blue Fang titles
• Ensure art team members are set up for project and career success
• Work with and mentor your Art Leads to maintain quality and schedule
• Work with the Technical Director to maintain technical guidelines
• Work with the Producer to create and update the art schedule
• See that detailed art bibles are in place for each project
• Direct creation of concept art and in-game art

Job Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years game industry experience
• Minimum 7-10 years professional creative experience
• Extensive knowledge of effective management practices
• Knowledgeable user of all current graphics software (we’re currently a 3dsmax shop but this could always change depending on project requirements)
• Both console and PC experience welcome, console experience preferred
• Demo reel or portfolio showcasing personally produced works plus works of the art team(s) you’ve directed and/or managed

Senior Artist

Requirements
• 3 or more years as an artist in the game industry
• Outstanding drawing skills and conceptual art ability
• Effective communication skills
• Extensive experience with 3D Studio MAX
• Excellent 3D modeling & texturing skills
• Extensive knowledge of current graphics production software

Desired
• UI design and implementation experience a strong plus
• Animation experience a plus
• Maxscript knowledge a plus

3D Animator
Blue Fang Games, creators of the famed Zoo Tycoon series, is actively seeking a full-time 3D Animator to help with development of our next generation of games.

Requirements:
• Excellent 3D animation skills required
• Excellent understanding of animation principles
and a background in character animation required
• Extensive experience with a 3D animation package required (we use 3dsmax)
• Strong communication skills

Desired:
• 3D Game development experience preferred
• Drawing skills and conceptual art ability a plus
• Modeling and texturing ability a plus
• Supervisory and art direction skills also a potential plus
